Description
A refreshing and spicy twist on a classic bourbon cocktail, enhanced with fresh strawberries and a homemade hot honey syrup.
Ingredients

- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup water
- 1–2 small red chili peppers, sliced (or 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes)
- 3–4 fresh strawberries, hulled
- 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1 oz hot honey syrup (from above)
- Ice
- Fresh strawberry (for garnish)
- Lemon wheel or twist (for garnish)
- Fresh mint sprig (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the honey, water, and chili peppers.
- Heat over medium, stirring, until the honey is fully dissolved.
- Remove from heat and let steep for at least 15-20 minutes to infuse the heat. Strain into a jar and let cool completely. (Can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks).
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle the fresh strawberries until crushed and juicy.
- Add the lemon juice, bourbon, 1 oz of the cooled hot honey syrup, and a handful of ice to the shaker.
- Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until well-chilled.
- Strain into an ice-filled rocks or old-fashioned glass.
- Garnish with a fresh strawberry, a lemon wheel, and a mint sprig. Serve immediately.
Notes
- This cocktail can be made in larger batches for parties.
- Adjust the spiciness by varying the amount of chili peppers or hot honey syrup used.
